Seeking Nominations for the Bernie Belling Ethics Award

The MARRCH Ethics Committee is seeking nominations for the MARRCH Bernie Belling Ethics Award. The award is given by the MARRCH Ethics Committee in recognition of consistent ethical behavior and ethical leadership in the chemical health field. 

Nominations are due by September 30, 2018.

The award will be given at the MARRCH Annual Conference, scheduled for Oct. 29-31 at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

Nominations should provide concrete descriptions of how the nominee’s behavior meets each of the following three criteria:

  1. Consistently adheres to ethical codes and practices (not just a one-time thing but across the board; daily)
  2. Behaves ethically because she or he believes in ethical behavior (not just because it’s legally required).  
  3. Actively promoted/modeled ethical behavior for the chemical health field as a whole.

The Ethics Committee is looking to expand its membership!

Please provide concrete descriptions of how the nominee’s behavior meets each of the following three criteria:
Give specific examples of ethical challenges the individual has faced successfully.
Give a detailed description of how the nominated individual’s ethical perspective has matured over time. Referencing Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development would be helpful.
Describe the scope of their influence on others (their workgroup, your organization, the local area programs, regional, statewide) and how they have managed that influence (modeling, informal feedback, taking a moral stand on an issue, training, articles). Be specific and give examples.
