Why is the MARRCH Spring Retreat cancelled?

After closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), state and local governments, and following travel advisories and restrictions, the MARRCH board members have decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Retreat. We never want to risk exposing people in our workforce to a situation where they could be compromised and unable to work for an extended period of time. With the growing number of registrant and speaker cancellations, as well as the numerous institutional travel restrictions in place, our leadership has determined that it is in the best interest of all not to move forward with the conference at this time. 

 

Will the conference be cancelled until a later date or rescheduled?

MARRCH will not be rescheduling the 2020 Spring Retreat. However, we look forward to seeing you October 26-28 for the MARRCH Annual Conference!

 

Will attendees and exhibitors be refunded by MARRCH for hotel and airline costs?

MARRCH will not be able to reimburse you for your travel expenses. The Cragun’s Resort will be canceling all room reservations made through the MARRCH room block. You will receive an email notifying you of the cancellation. If any attendee still wishes to travel, they will need to re-book a room. If you are staying at another hotel, you must contact them directly to cancel. We suggest you contact your airline and request a refund, if applicable. If they are unwilling to grant a full refund, they may be willing to reschedule you for another flight in the future.

 

Will registration and exhibit fees be refunded?

Attendee registration fees will be automatically refunded. We expect to issue all refunds within the next 60-90 days and will let you know if we need any additional information. Please be patient as we process refunds for attendees, exhibitors, vendors and other partners.

Exhibitors also qualify for a full refund of their exhibit fee.

We ask for your patience as we process all refunds, given this unprecedented event for MARRCH.

 

When is the next MARRCH Conference?

We hope to see everyone in person again for the MARRCH Annual Conference: October 26-28, 2020. Speaker proposals are now being accepted. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for sponsor, exhibitor and attendee registration!

MARRCH is working on plans for the 2021 Spring Retreat. We do not have a definitive date yet but will keep everyone informed as it is decided.

 

I was scheduled to present at the MARRCH Spring Retreat. Does the cancellation of the event mean I can no longer list my presentation on my resume or CV?

In discussion with several leaders in the academic community, it is their opinion it is acceptable to include your presentation or poster on your CV and note the convention was cancelled. You are also advised to inquire with your own division/department leadership if you are up for promotion soon.

Sample listing: Presentation/poster title, indicate accepted (alternatively invited if asked to present), developed, scheduled to be delivered on ___ (date) yet not delivered due to reason (conference cancellation/travel restriction reason)
