Meet the Nominees

All MARRCH members in good standing from even-numbered regions will have an opportunity to elect their regional board governor for the next two years. (The term will run from January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2019.)

A request for board nominations was sent to all members the last week in August and the nominations are now closed.

The election is now open and ballots will be accepted through Friday, November 6.

The nominees for the 2018 MARRCH Board of Governors are:

Region 2

Tina Silverness, Center for Alcohol & Drug Treatment

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
I want to be considered for Region 2 Governor mainly because of my passion for our field and great empathy for those suffering from addiction. I Want to continue to advocate against the stigma that people with substance disorders and mental health issues suffer – from those who don't understand these illnesses. I would continue to work hard to address the issues in our region. I have contributed 3 1/2 years as a MARRCH board member participating in many processes and solutions that have improved MARRCH as an association and added value to our members. My years of experience in the field and on the MARRCH Board has expanded my knowledge/understanding of these complex issues and ways to work together to best address them.

I want to continue representing Region 2 as Governor because I want to continue recruiting new memberships throughout Region 2 and expand participation in the Region 2 meetings/activities. It is important Region 2 have a governor that participates in MARRCH committees/activities that bring value to our members and region. 

Qualifications:

Im currently the Region 2 MARRCH governor and have been since 2104. 
My education is in Business administration (MBA. MAM) and Social work (BA of Social Work). 
I have 22 years’ experience in the field of Substance Use Disorders and have worked for The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment for the last 20 of those years. I began as an LADC/LSW and then moved into management. The last 6 years I have worked as Chief Operating Officer for the Center.
I have worked on other boards and committees and have had several years experience providing direct client services. I understand the issues from both provider and administrative levels. 


Region 4

Renata R. Bosek
Northern Pines Chemical Health Services

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
To continue to promote The treatment of Substance Abuse and to help promote collaboration with treatment services in Region 4. 

Qualifications:
I have worked in SUD treatment since 2009 as a clinician, supervisor, manager and director at both the State level and in private practice. I have a PhD in clinical psychology and I am a LADC Supervisor.


Region 6

Kevin Evenson
RS Eden

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
I spent time working as a board member a while back and enjoyed the position. I am concerned about how the field is changing and would like to bring my expertise to the table to help drive the changes taking place. I think I have alot to offer with my 35 years in the field, past position as single state authority for the Department of Human Services and Program director of both priviate and public programs. I understand addiction and what it takes to get into recovery and see lots of barriers we can change if we put forth the effort. I really want to be a part of this huge shift in treatment. 

Qualifications:

  • Past Single state authority (Department of Human Services)
  • Past Director of Community Addiction Recovery Programs operated by the State of Minnesota. 
  • Masters Degree in Organizational Management.
  • Prior licensure as an addiction counselor, counselor supervisor
  • Recovering addict with 36 years of recovery
  • Current Director of Recovery Services Director for RS EDEN. 
  • Past President of MARRCH

 

Brian Teuber
CARE Anoka

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
I am passionate about the field I have worked in for over 25 years. I am a charter member of MARRCH and like to be proactive in meeting the ongoing needs of our clients and the programs that serve them.

Qualifications:
I have 25 years of experience as a LADC and program administrator. I have been with MARRCH since its inception and believe in the mission. I have been involved with MARRCH and the field to help bring the state together for as "One Voice" in ensuring we are mindful and actively working at improving the field and ultimately giving our clients the best possible chance at a meaningful and lasting recovery. 


Region 8

Michael T. Frisch, Cronin Homes, Inc.

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
MARRCH has a strong history in my professional tenure and have been supportive for many years to improve the quality of my abilities to execute my skills. I have been an active member of the MARRCH organization since the early 1990's and participated in the fall conference since 1989. I have actively participated in the MARRCH Ethics committee since 2006. I am passionate to continue the representation of our southeastern MN area at the State level and maintain the valuable connection between our region and the MARRCH as a whole. Having worked with and on advisory and managing boards in the past, I feel I can represent our southeast profession adequately in this venue. 

Qualifications:

Eighteen years’ experience directing (ED) a non-profit chemical health facility 

  • Experienced within Olmsted County Corrections and the legal system. I also have maintained an accredited forensic counselor since 2010
  • Skilled educator and lecturer
  • Organized and skilled administrator and certified LADC supervisor
  • Experienced working within the multi-disciplines and modalities of human services
  • Experienced in individual, family and group counseling
  • Experienced case manager of varied environments/populations/caseload sizes
  • Active private Chem. Dep. consulting business “MTF Consulting”
  • Adjunct Co-Instructor - Criminal Justice (Sociology) Winona State University
  • Active Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Skills group facilitator

Debra Wamsley
University of Minnesota, Addictions and Integrated Behavioral Health Counselor Training Programs

Please explain why you want to be considered for a MARRCH Governorship:
I feel strongly about the work that MARRCH has done on behalf of the addictions field. MARRCH has begun the sometimes difficult and painful task of self examination and restructure of the organization. I have been at the forefront of these changes and believe my re-election would help support this evolution during this transition. 

MARRCH has been at the forefront in working with DHS, BBHT and the legislature in representing and advocating for our field. I want to continue my work with the other MARRCH Board of Governors as we move forward and continue this important and necessary work during these tenuous times. 

Qualifications:
I have served, with pleasure, as a Board Governor over the past 10 years; in Region 9 and more recently, Region 10. During my tenure as a MARRCH Governor I have been involved in advocating for our field through legislative testimony, working with DHS on policy initiatives, restructuring the overall MARRCH organization and mentoring newcomers in our field, while expanding our relationships and visibility across disciplines. I have worked in substance abuse treatment and prevention over the past 40 years in many different capacities including direct care delivery, program management and most recently as an educator and trainer. I would continue to bring passion for the work we do and the people we serve in this field in my role as region 10 representative.
